Former Digicel Bermuda chief executive officer Wayne Caines is consulting for rival telecoms firms Bermuda CableVision, The Royal Gazette has learned.

Mr Caines left his Digicel post last July after six years with the company, but remained connected with the firm as non-executive vice-chairman of its board.

A spokesperson for KeyTech Ltd, Bermuda CableVision’s parent company, said yesterday: “Wayne Caines is working at Bermuda CableVision as a consultant on marketing initiatives.”

Digicel and Bermuda CableVision have branched out in recent years with the liberalisation of the telecoms industry that has allowed them to offer a wide range of services.

The firms are now competing internet service providers. Yesterday, CableVision announced the official launch of its ‘CableVision internet’ service, offering both internet service and access.
