Darrell banned for serious dissent

Banned: Darrell

Willow Cuts batsman Deunte Darrell has been banned for two matches by the Bermuda Cricket Board after being found guilty of a level two offence last weekend in the league match against Bailey’s Bay at Somerset Cricket Club.

Darrell showed serious dissent towards decisions by the umpires while fielding during the Bailey’s Bay innings and was subsequently reported by the officials, Oscar Andrade and Alex Knight.

A second Cuts player, opening bowler Kamal Bashir, pleaded guilty to “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game”, a level one offence, and has been suspended for one match. That offence occurred in the same match, which Bailey’s Bay won by seven wickets.

Darrell and Bashir will miss next weekend’s match against Somerset, with Darrell also sitting out the match on June 21 against champions St David’s.

Bailey’s Bay return to Somerset today to play holders Southampton Rangers in the final of the Premier Division Twenty20 tournament, starting at 3pm. In the opening match at 11am, Western Stars face Devonshire Rec in the First Division Twenty20 final.
