It set off earlier today from Dockyard’s South Basin and headed north: the Parade of the Bands — the third major instalment of the Bermuda Heroes Weekend.

The roughly two-hour procession of trucks, bands and accompanying revellers is to end up at the cruise ship pier for a long afternoon of entertainment, with the music winding up at about 8pm.

It has been the Island’s most ambitious celebration of National Heroes Day thus far, with offerings from BHW Ltd and the backing of the Bermuda Tourism Authority, to bring Caribbean Carnival festivities. Organisers hope that events such as this morning’s j’ouvert will grow into a regular annual fixture.
