Brothers in court after stabbing

Magistrates' Court

Brothers Michael and Melvin Brangman have been charged in connection with a recent stabbing in Sandys.

Melvin Brangman, 46, was charged with assaulting Clifton Anderson on June 18 with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

Both he and his younger brother, 45-year-old Melvin Brangman, were further charged with two counts of attempting to pervert the course of justice. Prosecutors alleged that the men removed a motorcycle from a property in an attempt to mislead police and tried to wash away blood at a residence.

The brothers, of Somerset Road, Sandys, were not required to enter pleas to the charges at Magistrates’ Court this morning because the matters must be heard in the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released Micheal Brangman on $5,000 bail on the condition that he avoid all contact with the complainant and report regularly to the Somerset Police Station.

However the magistrate remanded Melvin Brangman into custody.
