A plane diverted to Bermuda so that a sick passenger could get emergency hospital treatment.

The Thompson flight, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner en route from London Gatwick to Montego Bay, Jamaica, landed in Bermuda at 5.30pm yesterday.

The passenger, a 50-year-old woman from the UK, was assessed by emergency teams on arrival at LF Wade International Airport. She was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Four family members accompanied her and were expected to remain with her overnight.

The plane refuelled and departed for Jamaica at 6.40pm.
