Bermuda players no match for experienced opponents

Bermuda’s interest in the main draw of the Bank of Bermuda Foundation Tournament is over.

The doubles pairings of Dylan Powell and Luke Stirling and Tanner and Billy Boyle both lost today at the ITF Junior Circuit event.

The Boyle cousins were up against top-seeds Sebastian Mermersky and Chase Burton in a match that finished 6-1, 6-0. The Bermuda pair were no match for the more experienced Americans, who dominated with skilled touches around the net on their way to a convincing victory.

Powell and Stirling, meanwhile, faired little better in their battle with Alex Guzhva and Ronan Jachuk, as they lost 6-2, 6-0.

In the girls doubles, Kaylah Ming teamed up with Desiree Mason from the United States as they took on the third seeds Kianah Motosono and Naomi Idelis Waters of the US.

Like her male counterparts, Ming and her partner got little joy out of their more experienced opponents, and were comfortably beaten 6-1, 6-0.

David Leader, meanwhile, was Bermuda’s last representative in the boys singles, and his tournament was over relatively quickly too, as he was beaten by American qualifier Beau Pelletier 6-1, 6-0.
