House: $15 million spent on lawyers

The Bermuda Government has paid out a total of $15.8 million to lawyers in the last two fiscal years.

The figures were revealed by Finance Minister Bob Richards, in response to questions from Progressive Labour Party Member of Parliament Derrick Burgess, and they include legal aid, as well as retainers and settlements.

In the financial year 2013/14, Government paid out $6.8 million, while $9 million was spent in 2014/15.

Mussenden-Subair Limited was paid $1.13 in the 2013 fiscal year, and $1.1 million went to MJM Limited in 2014-15. Payments went out to a total of 62 firms and lawyers.
