PLP leader’s trial date set

Opposition leader Marc Bean

Marc Bean, the Leader of the Opposition, is scheduled to go on trial accused of using offensive language on August 7 at Magistrates’ Court.

Mr Bean appeared in court this morning when the trial date was set by Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo.

The charge is reportedly linked to an incident between Mr Bean and Toni Daniels, a former One Bermuda Alliance senator, outside of a Sandys polling station on November 6, 2014.

Mr Bean was represented by lawyer Charles Richardson who told the court that he proposed to put forward legal arguments before the trial began as to why the alleged comments do not amount to the offence charged.

Mr Bean was released on bail.
