Freddy Hall, the Bermuda goalkeeper, could offer a helping hand to struggling Irish side Limerick who are rooted to the bottom of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.

Hall, 30, has been out of contract since the end of last season, although he was offered a one-year deal to stay with Telford United, who suffered relegation from the Vanarama National League to the National League North.

The former Toronto FC player, who captained Bermuda against Guatemala in the away leg of their second-round World Cup qualifiers last month, has been training with Limerick ahead of their crucial league match at home to Galway United tomorrow.

Martin Russell, the Limerick manager, said: “Freddy has just come in. He seems a good character and a good goalkeeper. We will see how it goes.”

Limerick are looking to add to their goalkeeper options, with first-choice No 1 Ali Abass recovering from injury.

Hall, who made 21 appearances for Telford last season, joined the Shropshire club from Oxford City, where he made two appearances in the National League North. He started the season at Chester in the National League, making four appearances before parting ways with the club after a permanent deal collapsed.

Limerick have failed to win any of their 18 league matches this season and are eight points adrift from second-from-bottom Sligo Rovers.
