St George’s plump for Pitcher as captain

New man in charge: OJ Pitcher

OJ Pitcher of St David’s has been confirmed as captain of the St George’s Cup Match team for this month’s match at Wellington Oval.

Speaking on ZBM last night, Pitcher called it an honour to be appointed to the post, which was vacant after Oronde Bascome stood down after last year’s defeat in Somerset.

“I’m really looking forward to it, it’s definitely an honour, and I hope to be able to keep the trophy in St George’s,” said Pitcher who scored a century last year in a losing cause, his first ton in the Classic.

As for the key to winning this year’s match, Pitcher stated: “Definitely bowling them out twice, Somerset have a very strong batting line-up, but I feel the bowlers we have at our disposal can get the job done.”
