A 44-year-old Devonshire man has been fined $500 for assaulting his wife.

Appearing in Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Shane Outerbridge pleaded guilty to assaulting Lorrie Outerbridge on May 20.

The court heard that the incident took place at their Sandys residence and that Outerbridge choked Ms Outerbridge during the altercation.

But prosecutor Garrett Byrne said Ms Outerbridge was able to get away and did not suffer any injuries.

Duty counsel Susan Moore-Williams added that the pair have separated and are residing at different addresses.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo convicted Outerbridge, who apologised in court, and handed him a $500 fine.
