Bermuda’s Davis Cup team have lost the first three ties of their run in Group Three of the America’s Zone in Panama City this week.

The squad, led by coach Ricky Mallory and comprised of Gavin Manders, David Thomas, Jensen Bascome, and Neil Towlson, lost to Jamaica, Bahamas, and Guatemala, winning just one of the nine matches they have played so far.

They face Trinidad and Tobago today for their last chance at redemption.

Bermuda have been competitive in a series of close matches, but the four could not capitalise, with Thomas securing Bermuda’s only victory, after Jamaican opponent Damion Jonshon retired in their singles rubber.

The tournament features nine countries vying for two promotion spots.

Bermuda, who relied on Manders to help them gain promotion to group three in 2009, have never played at a higher level of competition.

All matches are being played outdoors on clay at the Cancha Estadio Centro de Alto Rendimiento Fred Maduro.
