Man in ‘critical condition’ after crash

A motorcyclist who yesterday suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash involving a car on South Road is in critical condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

The 28-year-old guest worker was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital following the accident, which happened just east of Warwick Long Bay at about 6.50pm.

According to a Police spokesman, the man sustained life-threatening injuries.

The area was cordoned off as the scene was examined by officers from the Traffic Collision Investigators Unit as well as the Forensic Support Unit.

The driver of the car, a middle aged lady, told The Royal Gazette at the scene: “There was a bike coming from the opposite direction.

He ended up right underneath the car.”

The Police spokesman today said: “It was reported that a 28-year-old man guest worker travelling on a livery cycle, was travelling east on South Road in Warwick 10 meters east of Warwick Long Bay, when he collided with a car travelling in the opposite direction.

“As a result the 28-year-old man was taken to KEMH, where he is presently in the Intensive Care Unit, listed in critical condition.”

Police appealed for witnesses to call 295-0011.
