Learn about gig racing at BUEI Talks lecture

• Come out for an evening to learn all about gigs and gig racing at the latest in the BUEI Talks series, Bermuda Pilot Gig Project on Tuesday, August 4. This event will include special presentations by competitive gig boat rower Steve Lock, Society president Rick Spurling and organiser Debbie Jones. The lecture will start at 7.30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium and Harbourfront is offering a 10 per cent discount (food only) to anyone dining there before or after the event. Reservations are available from 5pm for the sushi bar and the full menu will be available from 6pm — please mention the lecture when booking to avail of the discount and note that it cannot be combined with any other special offers. • Pirouette your way to the Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall as Bermuda Civic Ballet presents Summer Selections 2015, two evenings of ballet and modern dance on Thursday and Friday, August 6 and 7. From 8pm, you can enjoy an evening of enchantment as Bermuda’s finest dancers participate in a programme ranging from classical ballet to breakdancing and capoeira. Joining them are Bermuda’s professional dancers James Waddell (Royal Ballet Flanders) and Malachi Simmons (12 Degrees North UK), and two stars of Royal Ballet Flanders, Nancy Osbaldeston and Laurie McSherry-Gray.
