Aaliyah Nolan scored four as Bermuda’s under-20 women’s team got their Concacaf Championships off to a flying start with a 7-0 thumping of St Kitts yesterday in Dominican Republic.

It took Bermuda just three minutes to open the scoring when Deshae Darrell outpaced her defender after being sent through by Teyah Lindo, and she unleashed a fantastic shot that went over the keepers head and into the back of the net.

Nolan made it 2-0 eight minutes later when she latched on to a defence splitting pass from Kali Lespere, out-muscled her marker and calmly slotted the ball into the goal.

Nolan was at it again moments later, scoring from the penalty spot after Darrell had been brought down in the box, and Nolan then turned provider, setting up Eva Frazzoni to make it 4-0.

By now Bermuda was completely in control of the game, but the St Kitts team never let up and in the 26th minute Leranja Wilkenson, the St Kitts captain, struck the ball from all of 30 yards and Micah Pond, the Bermuda goalkeeper, brilliantly tipped it on to her crossbar.

Bermuda broke quickly when the ball bounced back into play, and the ball found its way forward to Frazzoni who made it 5-0 at half-time.

The second half started at a much slower pace as the heat started to get to the players, but shortly before the hour mark Nolan completed her hat-trick after being put through on goal by Lindo.

It was only fitting that Nolan had the final say, the Bermuda striker intercepted a poorly hit goal kick and finished in emphatic fashion.
