Food collection on National Chicken Wing Day

Today is National Chicken Wing Day — and one of Bermuda’s chicken wing outlets is celebrating by giving something back to the community.

Wild Wing Wednesday, on Parsons Road, has linked up with the Eliza DoLittle Society for a food collection in aid of the people who need it the most. Customers are encouraged to drop off cans of food in a large barrel at the store, to be distributed to Eliza DoLittle Society’s food banks, which offer support to those who have fallen on hard times.

For Dakia O’Brien, it is the first National Chicken Wing Day since she founded Wild Wing Wednesday last November.

“We knew we wanted to do something different for our first National Chicken Wing Day,” she said. “I wanted to give back.

“And, of course, it’s not easy doing charity work while running a small business, but I’m a firm believer that what you put in is what you get out.”

Ms O’Brien said she would be participating with Eliza DoLittle again for future events.
