BSX closes higher

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed higher at the end of the holiday-shortened week, finishing 3.5 points (0.28 per cent) higher at 1,247.44. The Index was closed on Thursday and Friday.

Shares of Watlington Waterworks improved 25 cents (1.3 per cent) to close at $20.25 after 1,000 were traded. Also improving last week were shares of BF&M, which were up 10 cents (0.6 per cent) at $17.30 after 3,300 were exchanged.

Butterfield Bank shares edged up 1 cent (0.6 per cent) to close at $1.78 after 24,074 changed hands.

Shares of Argus Group lost 10 cents (2.5 per cent), falling to $3.90 after 1,500 were traded, and HSBC Holdings were down 10 cents (1.11 per cent) to $8.85 after 600 changed hands.

The BSX Insurance Index rose 1.84 points (0.11 per cent) during the week to close at 1,625.50.
