Beach named first female Commandant

Sandra Cortina Beach has been named the first female Commandant Designate of the Bermuda Police Reserves.

Commandant Beach, who will be formally sworn in during a change-of-command ceremony on October 8, first joined the Bermuda Reserve Police in August 1995.

Since then, she has worked her way up the ranks, becoming superintendent in September 2004.

During her time with the Reserve Police Commandant Beach has received the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, the Queen Jubilee Diamond and the Colonial Long Service Award. She has also helped organise several community events and taken part in overseas conferences in Barbados, Canada, London, the Bahamas and the United Kingdom.

She also works at the Transport Control Department as the account/administration officer.
