Sandys man admits possessing cannabis

A 21-year-old man has admitted possession of 0.34 grams of cannabis.

Frank Herbert, of Sandys, appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to having the drug in Devonshire on March 23.

He was stopped by Police at the junction of Happy Valley Road and Deepdale Road East after trying to turn around when he saw the police car.

As the officers were speaking to Herbert, they could smell cannabis. When asked about this, he said: “I have a little herb.”

Two plastic twists containing plant material were found in his trouser pocket and he was arrested.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered a social inquiry report and a drug assessment.

He adjourned the matter until September 22 for sentencing and set bail at $1,000 with a like surety.
