Willow Cuts ease to counties triumph

Southampton Oval (Somerset Bridge won toss): Willow Cuts beat Somerset Bridge by 173 runs.

Deunte Darrell responded to being dropped from the Somerset Cup Match team by smashing 85 as Willow Cuts thrashed Somerset Bridge in the Western Counties second round on Saturday.

Cuts amassed a match-winning total of 267 in 48.5 overs after being sent into bat by Bridge.

Bridge could only manage 94 in 24.3 overs as Cuts advanced to the final where they will play Warwick on August 22.

Darrell shared a fourth-wicket stand of 78 with Malachi Jones, who scored 32, that laid the foundations for the Cuts total after another guest player, Chris Douglas, added 36.

Jermaine Salaam ws the pick of the Bridge bowlers, taking three for 54.

Bridge were 63 for three after 16 overs in their run chase but quickly crumbled. Jahnoi Bean, a Bridge league player last season before his transfer to Somerset Cricket Club, was their top scorer with 27.
