Talbot hires new political risk expert

The London subsidiary of Bermuda-based reinsurer has appointed a new global head to concentrate on risk from political violence and aviation war.

Steven Tebbut is to become global practice leader in the specialist area at Talbot Underwriting — a new role.

Mr Tebbut was key figure in establishing the war and terrorism book of business at the underwriters’ overseas offices, as well as in London.

Talbot director of underwriting James Skinner said: “Since joining Talbot, Steven has developed the product lines and helped establish our position as a recognised market leader in political violence and aviation war.

“With the promotion and other changes we are making to strengthen the team worldwide, I am confident that Talbot will drive further growth in our political violence and aviation war business in London and overseas.”

Mr Tebbut joined Talbot in 2002 and has worked in the Lloyd’s of London market for a total of 18 years.

He previously worked at JL Jones and XL in the cargo and specie business and also represents Talbot on the London Market Association terrorism panel.

Mr Tebbut said: “As the exposure to these perils in some parts of the world continues to escalate dramatically, we are seeing increased interest in terrorism and aviation war coverage from our clients.

“With these changes, Talbot is well positioned to expand coverage and services to clients via a strengthened team in London and in each of our overseas offices.”

Talbot operates offices in Singapore, Dubai, Sydney, New York, Miami and Santiago in Chile.
