The Bermuda High School for Girls today announced its GCSE/IGCSE results — with Brianna Mendes becoming the school’s first student to achieve 12 A*s across the board.

In total, 93 per cent of all GCSE/IGCSE grades received by BHS students in 2014/15 were A* to C, with 15 per cent achieving all A* or A grades.

Head of School, Linda Parker, said in a statement: “I am elated with these excellent results. I am particularly proud of the high percentage of A* and A grades.”

Ms Parker said 48 per cent of the total grades received by the students were A* or A, which she described as “phenomenal”.

“These results are an affirmation of our long history of academic excellence, and of our mission of educating our students to the highest international standards,” she said.

Students achieved the highest number of A* and A grades were: Brianna Mendes 12 A*; Emma O’Donnell 10A*, 2A; Megan Sutcliffe 10A*, 2A; Georgia Bower 9A*, 2A; Hailey Quig 9A*, 2A; Zoe Oleksak 7A*, 3A; 1B, Aine Smith 6A*, 5A; and Neha Katote 5A*, 7A.

Mrs. Parker added: “We congratulate our students for these excellent results. Our Year 11 student body as a whole deserves our congratulations, having proven that self-discipline, hard work and determination lead to academic success. I would also like to recognise and thank our teachers who have encouraged and challenged the students to aim high and reach their full potential.”
