Back-to-school supplies for foster children

The Pembroke Rotary Club has donated back-to-school supplies to foster children.

The club gave 50 backpacks filled with stationery and other items to the Bermuda Foster Parents’ Association.

Working with the Department of Child and Family Services, the club was able to identify children of all school ages who needed the supplies.

The backpacks contained binders, notebooks, rulers, pens and pencils, a water bottle, granola bars, dental-care products and other age-appropriate items.

Antoinette Simmons, the treasurer of the Foster Parents’ Association, thanked the club for its contribution and assured members that the backpacks and supplies would make the process of getting ready to go back to school easier for everyone.

The Pembroke Rotary Club was keen to thank Butterfield and Vallis, AF Smith, the Phoenix Stores Limited and Smiles Inc for donating supplies or for providing them with discounts on the purchase of the supplies.
