Michael Dunkley this afternoon took part in the Back 2 School Extravaganza event, aimed at helping families in advance of the coming school year.

The Premier praised the event, organised by the Caines brothers, 5 Star Barbershop and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, saying he was impressed by the number of young people who attended the event at St Paul’s AME Centennial Church Hall.

Mr Dunkley thanked the Caines brothers for their “foresight and dedication” in ensuring that Bermuda’s families and young people were provided with the support they needed, and he thanked all the community partners involved for the donation of their time and services for such a worthy cause.

The event, which will continue until 6pm today, features a number of motivational speakers, a DJ, stalls and games. Organisers have said that around 600 students have been given book bags filled with school supplies, while around 400 received free haircuts.
