Former Saltus Grammar School student Katherine Davidge has been awarded a scholarship by one of the Island’s leading commercial law firms — and three other students have been awarded bursaries.

“The candidates this year were very strong academically and we were delighted to note the variety of programmes they are pursuing,” said Ernest Morrison, the managing director of Cox Hallett Wilkinson. “We wish all the applicants the very best in their studies.”

Ms Davidge graduated Saltus Grammar School with distinction and went on to attend McMaster University, Canada, to study sociology.

She then worked with Aon Bermuda Limited for two years while pursuing a bachelor of laws (LL B) from the University of Kent, England, in conjunction with the Bermuda College.

She was awarded the LLB with honours in June, and now plans to attend BPP University in Manchester, England, to obtain a postgraduate diploma in legal practice with business.

William Finnerty, Rachel Tucker and Amelia Oatley all received bursaries.

Mr Finnerty, a previous recipient, also attended Saltus Grammar School where he was head boy and active in the dramatic arts.

He has completed his first year of law school at the University of Warwick and is now heading to the University of Exeter — both in England — to work towards his LL B.

Ms Tucker attended Bermuda High School, Saltus Grammar School and Williston Northampton School in Massachusetts.

She then obtained a bachelor of arts in psychology from Wake Forest University, North Carolina, and is entering the second year of an LL B at the University of the West of England.

Ms Oatley graduated from Warwick Academy in June after receiving her IB Diploma, achieving 37 points.

She attended the 2014 UNIS-UN School conference on globalisation and has received the Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

Ms Oatley will be starting her LL B at the University of East Anglia, England, in September.
