St David’s struggle to fend off Carmichael

Hollis added 59 for the second wicket with Trott

Nyrobi Carmichael, the Bailey’s Bay seam bowler, claimed four wickets in the space of 3.1 overs to lead his team to victory over St David’s in the Premier Division.

St David’s were in a good position at 117 for five in pursuit of Bay’s 158, before Carmichael returned for his second spell and removed Justin Pitcher in his first over when the batsman flicked the ball down the legside where all-rounder Malachi Jones took the catch.

Carmichael then bowled George O’Brien to remove another big St David’s threat to expose their tail end. Rudell Pitcher, the last of the St David’s recognised batsmen, then fell to a catch at gully by Jermaine Usher off Jones to make it 133 for eight.

Carmichael wrapped up the victory for Bay in 30.1 overs as St David’s were dismissed for 136, trapping Del Hollis lbw. Then, after Jones had a confident appeal for lbw against Dean Smith turned down on the final ball of his spell, Carmichael ended the match by getting Cejay Outerbridge lbw to finish with figures of five for 30. Jones supported with three for 37 off ten overs. Captain OJ Pitcher was the top scorer for St David’s with 26 while Rudell Pitcher scored 24.

In the Bay innings, Rodney Trott was top scorer with 55 after he opened the innings with Terryn Fray who departed in the first over.

Trott and Dennico Hollis added 59 for the second wicket before Trott added 30 runs with Jones to take the score to 92 when two quick wickets pegged them back at 92 for four.

Wickets fell regularly before a last-wicket stand of 21 between Brandon Trott and Irving Romaine enabled the home team to pass 150. O’Brien was the pick of the St David’s bowlers with four for 37.

Cleveland defeated Flatts by eight wickets at Lord’s in the other Premier Division match. Flatts were dismissed for 160 and Cleveland replied with 164 for two as Jason Anderson scored 78 for Cleveland.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s match between Somerset and Cleveland was not played as no umpires showed up.
