Devonshire Recreation Club will have to wait at least another season to be promoted to the Premier Division after losing to Willow Cuts by five wickets in their promotion-relegation play-off battle at Sea Breeze Oval on Saturday.

Cuts dismissed their First Division opponents for a paltry total and then knocked off the required runs with 125 balls and five wickets to spare.

Sheroy Fubler claimed four for 15, while Dean Stephens and Shemar Gomes took two wickets each as Devonshire were rolled over for 129.

Levar Talbot led the Devonshire batting with 39.

Cuts lost two early wickets in their reply but managed to string useful partnerships together in the middle order to remain firmly on course.

Dexter Basden led the Western Counties champions’ run chase with 30 while his nephew Kevon Fubler chipped in with an unbeaten 29.

Fubler shared in a match winning 18-run sixth wicket stand with Shaquille Jones that carried Cuts safely across the line with wickets and balls to spare.

Kenny Philip was the pick of the Devonshire attack with two for 22.
