Butterfield shares fall 1%

Butterfield Bank: shares fell by two cents

A total of 9,000 Butterfield Bank shares worth $15,960 was today the sole move on the Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX).

The trade left the bank down two cents (1.1 per cent) at $1.77.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed down 8.85 points (0.72 per cent) at 1,216.71.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day down 25.1 points (1.37 per cent) at 1,571.16.

Financial services investment holding company Somers Ltd, owners of the Bermuda Commercial Bank, announced that it bought back 22,300 of its own shares between the start of March and September 23.

The BSX filing said the average price paid in four separately listed transactions over the period ranged from $13 a share in September to $14.25 a share in March.
