Hundreds of families joined in the fun of the annual Bounce for Autism event at Southampton Oval on Saturday.

Hosted by the Tomorrow’s Voices Autism Centre, more than 350 children and their families took part in the various activities.

The organisation’s co-founder, Thea Furbert, described the event as a rollicking success and said that everyone who attended had a good time.

“It was a very good day for us in terms of the people enjoying themselves and the activities,” she said. “We had a lot of compliments about the event, and we were also successful in spreading the word about autism.

“Each year we have new parents come to our information booth and follow up on the Monday or the rest of the week. There are about 250 children on the Island that are somewhere on the autism spectrum.”

Tomorrow’s Voices assists children between the ages of 2 and 21 who have autism spectrum disorders and developmental delays including cognitive, neurological, and behavioural disorders.

The organisation offers early intervention services for free or at a highly subsidised rate.
