TEDx talks being held next week

Local and international speakers are due to make presentations at the annual TEDx Bermuda event next Saturday.

The international speakers include Martijn Burger, academic director at the Erasmus Happiness Economics Research Organisation, which has included Bermuda in a happiness test; Barrington Irving, a 23-year-old became the first black pilot to fly solo around the world; and Radhika Nagpal, a professor of computer science at Harvard University whose work in collective robotics was chosen as one of ‘Science Magazine’s’ top ten breakthrough articles of this year.

Others visiting the Island are humanitarian Johnie McGlade; Kathryn Mullen, who was hired by Jim Henson on ‘The Muppet Movie’; entrepreneur and inventor Bryan Davis; Tom Gage, a leading supplier of electrical vehicle technology; crowd gaming pioneer Clilly Castiglia; and Stuart Lacey, the founder of Trunomi, a start-up in the field of personal data and privacy.

Hailing from Bermuda will be Michael Frith, creative director of Jim Henson Productions; poet and illustrator Yesha Townsend; and Family Centre’s Martha Dismont.

InMotion School of Dance will perform their dance showcase and Holiday Nutcracker Spectacular.

The event, at the Fairmont Southampton, is from 12.30pm to 6pm.
