Firefighters tackle White Hill View blaze

Firefighters tackled a blaze in a pump room tonight.

The Fire and Rescue Service swung into action after reports of a fire at a house in White Hill View, Sandys.

Four fire trucks and ten personnel, some wearing breathing apparatus, tackled the blaze, which was confined to a pump room attached to a single-storey house.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said the pump room was badly damaged by heat and smoke, although the main house only suffered minor smoke damage.

No one was hurt in the blaze, which started at about 7.30pm.

The spokeswoman added that power firm Belco had isolated the power supply to the home to prevent further problems.

And she said: “The fire will be under investigation as of the morning.”
