The Bermuda Tourism Authority is to hold a series of America’s Cup briefings for taxi drivers this week.

Officials will provide four 30-minute information sessions on Thursday at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute at 10am, noon, 3pm and 4pm.

“As we near the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series, it’s important to provide reliable information to taxi drivers who are in a prime position to positively affect the visitor experience,” said the chief executive of the BTA, Bill Hanbury. “This is just one of many actions we are taking to ready our hospitality industry for the world stage.”

The America’s Cup Event Authority and America’s Cup Bermuda will also participate in the taxi driver briefings to share the latest information about the World Series.

“We appreciate that taxi drivers are a very important source of information for visitors to Bermuda. In fact, taxi drivers are very often the first point of contact a visitor will have,” said Peter Rusch, the communications director for the ACEA.

“We want to share details about the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series with drivers so they will be in a position to inform guests and provide a positive experience.”

There is no registration requirement to participate in the sessions, however, taxi drivers with questions can contact the BTA on 296-9200.
