Laundromat’s owners seek to expand

The Quickie Lickie Laundromat in Southampton could soon increase in size, expanding into an adjacent retail space.

According to a planning application, the laundromat owners are seeking retroactive approval to remove the partition separating the Middle Road laundromat and the vacant retail space next door, which had previously housed a video rental shop. While the application admits that work on the project had already begun, work has been suspended pending approval.

Documents included in the application show a total of 18 new washers and six new driers in the expanded laundromat, along with two new storage rooms but no external renovations.

The planning application is viewable at the Department of Planning offices in the Dame Lois Browne-Evans building.
