An investigation has been launched after a prisoner died at Westgate.

The Ministry of National Security confirmed the death this afternoon in a written statement.

A ministry spokesperson said: “Tragically an inmate at the Westgate Correctional Facility passed away today.

“This matter is being fully investigated and there will be no further comment at this time out of respect for the family of the inmate. Our sincere condolences are expressed to his family and friends at this difficult time.”
