Bermuda has joined with 150 countries to mark World Post Day today, commemorating the post’s contribution to daily life with a salute to the late Margaret Rose Wade, who was dedicated to community service.

Ms Wade, who grew up in Jones’s Village in Warwick, delivered in the parish from the Warwick Post Office and later served as a janitor in the General Post Office.

Despite suffering from lupus, she served breakfasts for children on school mornings, collected clothing donations from her church, volunteered for the Mirrors programme and served on the Bermuda Lupus Association.

Volunteers from the Bermuda Post Office are marking the occasion today by helping out at the Lorraine Rest Home and the Warwick Preschool, in Ms Wade’s former delivery district.
