A 56-year-old man appeared in court yesterday accused of a series of sex offences against a child.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with touching the child for sexual purposes, inciting her to commit an indecent act and intruding on her privacy.

The defendant did not enter pleas to the charges and will return to court in two weeks for the case to be mentioned again.

He was released on bail in the meantime and ordered to have no contact with the complainant.
