The only stock traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was Ascendant Group, with 12,800 shares in the utilities firm changing hands.

The shares gained 40 cents (8.3 per cent) in value to close at $5.20.

The Royal Gazette/BSX closed up 3.79 points (0.31 per cent) at 1,217.01.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day up 19.20 points (1.16 per cent) at 1,670.52.
