Kathy Garrigan has been appointed as senior vice-president and head of actuarial services at Horseshoe Group.

She will be responsible for all pricing and reserving advisory activities for the Horseshoe group of companies.

In a statement, the company said Ms Garrigan will be the primary actuarial contact for the Horseshoe portfolio of clients. The company offers a broad umbrella of actuarial consulting services geared towards captives, insurer and reinsurers, and convergence firms.

Bermuda-headquartered Horseshoe is seeking to expand its client base of actuarial services clients.

“We are delighted to have been able to attract someone of Kathy’s calibre,” said Horseshoe chief executive officer Andre Perez.

“She brings a depth and breadth of actuarial expertise to the firm. We view the actuarial skill set as critical in designing innovative solutions and providing second-to-none service in this dynamic space. There is significant demand in the marketplace, particularly Bermuda, for quality actuarial services and skill set as an independent provider.”

Ms Garrigan worked for Endurance Specialty Holdings for more than ten years in actuarial and underwriting roles.

Immediately before joining Horseshoe she was consulting a US-based hedge fund considering the reinsurance space, said the company.

Ms Garrigan, who has also worked for Zurich Re/Converium and Continental Insurance Company, said: “I am thrilled to have joined the Horseshoe Group. Andre has assembled a market leading team of professionals to serve our existing clients and to attract new ones. I look forward to working with them in growing the business and expanding the footprint of our actuarial services.”
