Gosling’s winner back for PGA event

Back in Bermuda: Walsh will play in the Nike event at Mid Ocean next week

The inaugural Nike Golf PGA Team Championship of Canada comes to Bermuda next week when Mid Ocean Club will host 52 teams of PGA of Canada professionals.

The 54-hole national championship will feature different team formats for each day, a four ball, foursomes and scramble.

Notable entrants include Danny King, who won this year’s PGA Championship of Canada, Billy Walsh, a former Gosling’s Invitational winner, and Brian McCann, a regular visitor to the Island.

Other players involved next week will be Dave Levesque, a past PGA Championship of Canada winner, and Etienne Bussieres, who finished second at this year’s PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada.

“We’ve been looking forward to this national championship for quite a while now,” Constant Priondolo, the PGA of Canada president, said. “It undoubtedly has the winning recipe for success: a unique format, a phenomenal golf course and excellent support from both PGA of Canada professionals and partners alike.”

All nine PGA of Canada zones will be represented in Bermuda. The winning team of the Nike Golf PGA Team Championship of Canada will pocket $12,000 of the $90,000 purse.

“Our vision for this event from its inception was to create the most memorable and unique experience on the PGA of Canada schedule,” Tyler Keenan, Nike Golf Canada’s director of marketing, said. “We are confident our plans for the Nike Golf PGA Team Championship of Canada will deliver just that.”

The tournament runs from October 27 to 29.

n The Berrmuda Mixed Foursomes Championships are scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8 at Turtle Hill Golf Club.
