Aspen Insurance Holdings has appointed David Cohen as president and CEO of its insurance arm.

Mr Cohen, former president and US global casualty chief underwriting officer at underwriters Liberty International, will join Aspen Insurance, reporting to CEO Mario Vitale.

Aspen’s group CEO Chris O’Kane said: “I am delighted that David has joined Aspen Insurance. He is one of the foremost specialty underwriting leaders with an outstanding track record of building businesses and delivering consistent, cross-cycle returns.

“He will be a valuable addition to our group executive team and will strengthen even further our insurance leadership.”

Mr Cohen added: “The scale and opportunity ahead for Aspen Insurance is significant and I look forward to working with my new colleagues to make the most of that opportunity.”

Mr Cohen, who has worked in the industry for 35 years, has previously worked in senior positions at the Great American Insurance Co and The Home Insurance Co.
