Two injured in Pembroke crash

A crash involving two cars at the junction of Cavendish Road and Lane Hill in Pembroke early yesterday morning left both riders injured and one vehicle ablaze.

According to a police spokesman, officers responded to a report of a collision at the junction at around 1.40am.

“Apparently one car was being driven along Cavendish Road and the other car was being driven along Lane Hill when the vehicles collided at the junction,” the spokesman said.

“It was initially reported that one of the cars was on fire; however Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel were promptly on scene and extinguished the flames.”

Both drivers, a 31-year-old Smith’s man and a 52-year-old St George’s woman, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. While the spokesman said traffic flow in the area was temporarily disrupted by the crash, it returned to normal once both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Anyone who may have seen the crash is urged to contact the Hamilton Police Station at 247-1704.
