Students help to keep Bermuda beautiful

Saltus Grammar School joined forces with environmental charity Keep Bermuda Beautiful to clean up John Smith’s Bay.
Headmaster Ted Staunton said 53 students, staff, parents and “friends of the school” gathered at the beach in Smith’s on Saturday morning to remove plastics, rubber, glass and other refuse “from one of the prettiest beaches in Bermuda”.
A total of 22 bags of trash and 13 bags of recyclable material were collected.
Mr Staunton also thanked staff “green” leader Erica Powell “for her leadership and commitment to important environmental projects of this type”.
Saltus adopted the beach in 2013 as part of KBB’s Adopt-a-Spot initiative and Ms Powell spearheaded the school’s involvement with the programme.
