Missing medal replaced and worn with pride

Military music: at the Bermuda Tattoo (Photograph by Blaire Simmons)

Dear Sir,

On July 15, 2014, Raymond Hainey wrote an article about my missing medal honouring the Queen’s visit to Bermuda.

On September 22, 2015, I was presented the medal by Carol Everson after landing on St David’s Island.

I wore the medal with my Marine Corps league uniform at the Bermuda Tattoo alongside of my medals from Vietnam.

I was extremely proud to be able to wear it again. Over the years, I had forgotten the gold colour of the medal, but when it was presented, everything thing came back.

Only the children in St George’s parish received the medal and a photograph of the Queen. This I learnt from others living on the main island who remembered the visit.

Thank you, Bermuda, for such a great return home visit.
