Shares of Butterfield Bank jumped eight cents (4.2 per cent) to close at $1.97, after 97,104 were exchanged on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

The only other stock traded was BF&M, which dropped 15 cents (0.9 per cent) to $16.85 after 2,500 shares changed hands

The Royal Gazette/BSX rose 34.17 points (2.63 per cent) to 1,331.72. The BSX Insurance Index also climbed, finishing 16.66 points higher (1.03 per cent) at 1,631.16.
