MPs to discuss airport controversy

Shadow finance minister David Burt

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Public Accounts will conduct a public hearing tomorrow.

Members will discuss the proposed redevelopment of LF Wade International Airport, and receive an update from the Accountant General regarding the move not to put the airport terminal project out to tender.

The committee is also expected to receive an update from the Office of Auditor General on its latest reports on the Consolidated Fund of the Government of Bermuda for the years ended March 31, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

The Public Accounts Committee, chaired by shadow finance minister David Burt, is comprised of MPs, and is authorised by the House of Assembly to closely examine and report on matters relating to the accounts of the Government of Bermuda and, in particular, to investigate findings reported by the Auditor General in the Auditor’s Annual and other Special Reports.

The meeting takes place at 2.30pm in the Senate Chamber and is open to members of the public.
