‘Mr Gospel’ staying on the radio

Radio host Kelly Zuill

Rumours of a departure from the airwaves by Kelly Zuill, known to Bermudian listeners as “Mr Gospel”, have been gently put to rest.

“I am the acting CEO of the Bermuda Broadcasting Company, so if it was happening I think I’d know it,” David Hills told The Royal Gazette.

“With any of these rumours that he is leaving, you would be telling me something I didn’t know. He is still here. There may be adjustments, but we will be announcing changes hopefully within the next few days.”

Changes for the company include an upgrade in its television hardware and a shift to modernised radio, with an eventual goal of getting the television service to full HD, he said.

New programming came to two radio stations last month, concurrent with the departure of radio personalities Gina Spence and Everest DeCosta.

Mr Hills said most of the feedback had been positive, although he was aware of suggestions circulating on social media that Mr Zuill was leaving, adding: “It’s awkward when you are trying to make changes, but I am certainly not aware of anybody else leaving the building.”
