Daniels full of confidence

In the swing of things: Daniels

Terence Daniels will go into this month’s Gosling’s Invitational feeling good about his game.

The Bermudian golfer is fresh off two top-three showings on the Dream Chaser Tour in Arizona.

He clinched a maiden professional victory at this month and also finished tied for second at the Verde River Open.

Daniels shot a two-over-par 144 at his last event to finish tied with Edens Parker of Colorado.

Miller Matt, from Texas, won the 36-hole tournament by two shots.

Daniels placed himself thick in the hunt after firing a two-under-par 70 in challenging conditions on the opening day to earn a share of the lead.

“The first day was very cold conditions, it was 45 degrees when we teed off with howling rain and it hailed for thirty minutes during the round,” Daniels said. “After shooting a first round two-under-par 70 I was very pleased and went into round two tied for the lead.”

Daniels’s bid for a second victory on the Tour unravelled over the last 18-holes as his struggles with the putter took its toll.

“The second round wasn’t so great as I struggled with the putter and ended up shooting a two-over-par 74 and finished tied for second for the tournament,” he added. “But overall I was pleased with my result.”

With his game seemingly on the up, and confidence soaring, Daniels will shift his focus to the upcoming Gosling’s Invitational at Belmont Hills where he placed third overall a few years ago as an amateur.

“After finishing first and second respectively in my last two events, my confidence is high going into the Goslings at the end of the month,” he said.

“I am very excited to be returning for the Gosling’s Invitational this year. It is Bermuda’s largest professional event and I will be proud to be representing Bermuda against some great international talent.”
