Speaker to give advice on literature

Consul General Mary Ellen Koenig

Boston librarian Laura Koenig will be the featured speaker at a public meeting at the National Library next Wednesday.

Ms Koenig, the daughter of Consul General Mary Ellen Koenig, will discuss children and teen literature for those who want to give books for Christmas, from 6pm.

She worked with children and teens in public libraries for eight years and is the team leader for Central Library Children’s Services at the Boston Public Library, where she oversees a children’s department that serves children and families from Boston and beyond.

Ms Koenig presents regularly at major American library conventions on new trends in children’s and teen programming.

She also regularly moderates panels on children’s and teen literature at the annual Boston Book Festival, one of the largest literary fairs in the United States.

Mary Ellen Koenig said in a statement: “Laura is the first of our visitors to be asked to share her expertise while visiting in Bermuda. In the future, I hope that our other guests who have specific expertise in various subjects will be amenable to sharing some of what they know and love with the community here in Bermuda.”
