The Bermuda’s Farmers’ Market is being held at its new venue, the JJ Outerbridge Building at the Botanical Gardens, on Saturday, and will be open from 8am until noon.

The market offers local farmers, fishermen, gardeners and artisans a venue to sell produce, farm-related items, plants and locally made and designed crafts. This year there is a café and relaxation area with child-centred activities. Young Observer met some of the vendors to find out what visitors can expect.

• WireXpressions. Joanne Simmons said: “We make handcrafted jewellery made from silver-filled, gold-filled and colourful craft wire. We design items such as earrings, necklaces, rings, necklace sets, wire names, pendant shapes, or personalised, one-of-a-kind items.

“People will find something unique for gift-giving occasions such as Christmas, birthdays, valentines, graduations, or simply to treat yourself.”

• Lucinda’s Breads and Cookies. Lucinda Worrell-Stowe said: “I have been making bread for more than 45 years. At the Farmers’ Market I sell raisin bread, multigrain bread, herb breads, cactus breads and pumpkin bread, to name a few. I also sell eight different kinds of cookies.

“I accept special orders for the holidays such as rolls and hot cross buns. Please come visit me at the market and sample some of my baked goods.”

• Contemporary. Terry Lynn Thompson designs wearable art — jewellery for women with discerning taste.

• Nature’s Harvest Nursery and Farm. Ann Marie DeGraff said: “We specialise in flowering potted plants, herbs, cut flowers and naturally grown vegetables for all seasons. We grow beautiful Christmas poinsettias, geraniums, lots of flowering bedding plants and a gradual harvest of vegetables.”

• Roots Gardening. Deb and Gabre Swan sell naturally grown vegetables. They told us: “It is a small, family owned business. We take pride in providing the public with seasonal fruits and vegetables that are grown without the use of synthetic fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides. Try our vegetables and taste the difference.”

• WeeAh Designs. Earleen DeSilva sells hand-knitted slipper booties, hats, scarves, cowls, sweaters, gloves, leg warmers, knitted coats and blankets.

• Culture Wear Designs. This stall consists of African designs including ladies clothing, original jewellery, handbags, sandals, etc. Lynelle Furbert said: “We pride ourselves on original designs, complemented by hand-dyed African fabrics and hand-carved wooden items.”

• DeSilva’s Vegetables. Manuel DeSilva says his goods are straight from the local soil to your tabletop. We have broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, beets, Swiss chard, curly kale, bok choy, lettuce, local bananas, spinach, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and much, much more.

• Carla’s Creations. Carla Hill sells wools from around the world.

• Bermuda Toads. The beauty of Bermuda on reusable bags, mouse pads and dish towels that illustrate our breathtaking beaches and scenery.
