Come to our Christmas show

Here to entertain you: 'Nia' has a religious theme

Students and teachers have been preparing for the Christmas production since October.

The entire production is based on the STEAM concept and emphasises cross-curricular and trans-disciplinary experiences. Meaning, that with the Christmas Production at the centre, how can we, as a school, connect the content to science, technology, engineering, arts, maths, social studies, business, language arts and so on.

What does that actually look like in action?

Three separate groups of students decided to create skits and write scripts to perform on stage, another group of students created and set up the backdrops, another group of students painted the backdrops, other students worked on budget sheets deciding where and how money should be spent for the production, another group of students contributed to sound engineering and recording background music, science students looked at the properties of electricity and microphones.

Meanwhile, other students created flyers for advertising, students in family studies baked goodies and Design Club students created decorations to sell on the night of the production.

Of course, we also we had students rehearsing in the choir, band and strings programmes. Additionally, to fit the concept/theme of the production, students researched issues on a global level, connected them to how they affect Bermuda, and then created projects with suggestions for solving those issues.

The production itself is about God sending an angel to see how people are using their time to prepare for Christmas.

Once on Earth, the angel discovers that people are actually not taking time for Christmas and are more worried about other issues. The angel decides to put on a mini-Christmas concert to help people recognise their Nia, or purpose, and to spend more time on the Reason for the Season.

Does the angel’s efforts help people have a change of heart? You’ll have to find out Tuesday, December 15, at 7pm!

If you need some inspiration this Christmas season or help refocusing your Nia, then this is the show for you!
